About the Editor:

John Varghese is the thirteenth Principal of St Stephen’s College, Delhi. By education he is a teacher and by training a media person having worked as a radio broadcaster and voice trainer for several years. Born in Chennai, Professor Varghese has taught in India and abroad. Before taking charge as Principal, he was with the English and Foreign Languages University (formerly CIEFL), Hyderabad, where he worked in the Department of Media and Communication (formerly Radio and Television). His areas of specialization are Victorian literature, psychoanalysis, English language teaching, and media and communication. He has contributed to over a hundred voice-overs in English and has written articles across the areas of his specialization.

Professor Varghese has contributed to the setting up of Centres for English Language Teaching in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar with the support of the Government of India. He serves on the boards of several universities in India and is a keen advocate of increasing the synergies between classroom study and real-life practice.

Of late, as an academician and administrator, Prof. Varghese is actively interested in the intersection between policy, including educational policy, and actual practice. The YLNF Fellowship Programme is a result of this interest.
