Description:

"... 40% of the marine species are under severe threats, including climatic events and human activities. It is reported that presently 27% of coral species, 17% of shark and ray species, 12.4% of grouper species and 25% of mammal species are under endangerment categories."
The threat that is faced by the marine ecosystem due to human intervention and the subsequent climate change is not unheard of. Global warming and overfishing, leading to disruption in the marine ecosystem, has caused imbalances that might soon be too late to replenish. The author of Handbook of Endangered Marine Lifeaddresses these issues and the possible methods for conservation. Each chapter of this text covers specific species in detail - its scientific name, classification, habitat, global distribution, diagnostic characteristics and threats. A separate chapter has been dedicated entirely to conservation methods along with an introduction summarizing the dangers posed to marine life and their reasons. An informative and interesting read, this book promises to make the readers aware of the importance of the marine ecosystems and how we disrupt them in our naivety.
